Quoted for Truth
There are a lot of ideas in my head that I just can’t seem to put the words to. Ideas which, when I explain them, may even come out well enough for the other person to understand, but still lack that precision that makes it a great piece of memorable advice. I find it such an awesome event to run across someone who has taken the ideas floating around in my head and made them quotable. Even better when I know the person who actually managed to do it. Here is a quote from a friend of mine’s blog just the other day:
I’ve learned that simply being with people is the single most important thing I could do in a day.
Upon reading that, I texted her as quickly as I could with a simple “YES!!!” Hers are the exact words that I’ve been longing to put together, but have struggled mightily to do in such an eloquent and perfect way. In my faith life right now, there is nothing better I can do to live in God’s Love, to experience that Love, than to just be with people. Fellowship is the primary way in which I’m able to share God’s Love for others, and feel the Love that He has for me.
I make it a point of mine to spend as many hours as I can in that fellowship. It doesn’t have to be doing anything specifically religious; the importance just comes from being with people who love you. For instance, I meet my friends once a month for some trivia which goes until way past my bedtime. That experience is worth way more than the amount of sleep I lose.
Occasionally though, I struggle and pass on those opportunities of fellowship. I understand and appreciate the need for “me time,” but there are times where I could easily go out, but decline. It is these times that I need to work harder at, for, as my friend said, there is nothing more important that I could be doing.
