I think best when I am conversing with someone else. The best ideas and thoughts always come from cooperative learning. I am learning this more and more being around different people at college. I can learn so much. I have for that matter in and out of the classroom.

Hey Steven,

I think best in two places sort of. I notice when I am running I think a lot and I seem to be more focused. I always run in silence and have no distractions except watching where I am going. I also think and pray well when I am in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. It just seems to be the place I can be at peace. Now if I could only combine the two somehow.

For me it is those moments when I can just truly see God in those around me that cause me to be "lost in God". It really helps me to see how much he has blessed me with the amazing people I have in my life. I think what also helps is letting go. At Steubenville this year, one of the speakers talked about how the first thing he does in the morning is have his knees hit the ground in prayer. He prayers that he may give his life, his all, everything he has to God that day. I started doing this right after and try to "give my day" to God everyday by way of conscience effort. I think that in it of itself helps one to at least start off the day with God on your mind and heart, ready to do his will, ready for anything he throws at you, ready to be lost in his love. In order to be lost, you have to let go. Let go of everything. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. I'm not even sure if what I'm saying is even relevant to your question anymore so I'll stop rambling. I hope this helped at least a little bit though.

I understand the idea of the congregation being able to be heard and having questions answered while at mass but the idea of cell phones is not the answer. What about a basket at the back of church where you could put your questions and then during mass, maybe toward the end, the priest could try and answer a few.
Just a thought...

You post intrigued me. I don't really have a box for my faith stuff, but it's all in the same general area. But even with all this faith stuff at my disposal, I don't quite use it as often as I should. So I'm taking your post as a challenge to use it more! Thank you!
As for what else you can add...
You could get some books on faith stuff and prayer. I have one I'm reading right now called "Are you listening God? (I need you)." Also in my faith library that I need to start reading more of: "Made for More" "God's word for surviving the real world" "Jesus we adore you: prayers before the Blessed Sacrament" "No wonder they call it the Real Presence" and "With a grateful heart: the joy of thanksgiving." I really like the "are you listening God" cause it's just full of small little prayers. It's not a traditional book that's meant to help you grow spiritually, it's just a book with a different prayer on every page. So it's nice when you sit there and don't know what to say, to just pick up the book, flip to a page and start praying. I also think a good thing to have would be a journal. I really got into doing a prayer journal while at camp. I'd sit down with my journal, write "dear God" and then write whatever came to my mind. It really helped me to reflect on where I have been and how I've gotten through things, cause I always seem to go through the same struggles.
Another good book, but it's at home "stirring it up" in there he talks about having a piece of paper and pen by your side when praying for those things that just pop into your head that you don't want there. Like "Oh I just remembered I have to do this thing before tomorrow." Write it down so you don't forget it, and then continue with your praying. He also talks about some people that use candles to help them get into the prayerful mood. That's all I got for now, but pick up "stirring it up" Paul Masek, if I remember right, he's got some ideas in there.

I have to admit, i kinda laughed when i read this. This would make the service, mass, communion, whatever it may be called any given christian church, a little less respect than it deserves. I understand it more in a Christian church only after attending one of their services because their service is a tad bit informal. I could never see and don't want to see this is a Catholic Church. When we are participating in the Mass we are a part of a tradition that is 2000 years old. We are participating in it with the rest of the world. To add this cell phone policy would take away from that, take away from the Eucharist. Cell phones would not only ring but also take the person's attention away from what it should be on. This is not the purpose of the Mass!
